We start early in Santiago. After 3 hours driving trough the scenic Maipo valley mountain road we reach baños Morales, the last village. We take the Impressive Arenas Valley, which is a valley surrounded by rocky hills, here is where the trekking begins. It is a 3 hour moderate trek in a rugged terrain. Around 17:00 we are ready to set up our tents in the majestic Laguna del Morado with its ice floes and hanging glacier. We spend the night there. The next day after walking in the area for a couple of hours we are ready to go back to the car. From here it is possible to go either to Baños de Morales, cool spring water in a swimming Pool complex in the village, or Termas de Colina, very beautiful hot springs where unfortunately are some cabins which bother a bit the feeling of solitude. In the afternoon we are ready to go home.
It is possible to attempt some easy summits in the area in order to enjoy the impressive views of the central Andes, or to rock climb in the Arenas Valley boulders or to practice some ice climbing in the hanging glacier (require to rent extra equipment and some climbing experience) . This can be done in the second day in exchange of the hot spring or in a third day.
It is possible to extend the journey and make the other trip in the Cajon del Maipo area (Plomo Hot Springs) , ask for the new price.
Note: The price is per group (up to 4 persons), and includes the transport and some basic equipment like sleeping bags, cooking set, and tent. The food is not included. If a third day is asked by the group, the price will be increased by $45.000
